Switchcraft: Magical Match 3 Review
I've had the app for years, and I will say that I love the storyline, design, gameplay, and choices, (I do sort of wish we could have multiple save files for different story results) but some of my grievances are while it's not necessarily pay to win, it's HEAVILY implied. 900 coins just for 5 more turns? Just to get 25 coins back per win, making it significantly difficult and discouraging to try again. I stopped being such a frequent player due to this, and how difficult the ongoing rounds are.
The art style is really pretty and the aesthetics of the game overall are appealing. The storyline is interesting and creative. My only complaint is the frogs. I actively avoid using the frogs simply because they often do the least convenient move when set off and mess up the playing board. It would be better if you could select where the frog goes when you set it off. Once you get over level 2000 winning is more luck based, but if you treat it as a relaxed puzzle game it's not a big deal.
The game and story are both wonderful. I just got a new phone, however, and the game keeps telling me it can't connect to Google. The support faq from Wooga basically says tough luck, we can't help you. I've spent money on this game and I've made it to like level 425. VERY frustrating not to be able to pick up where I left off. I will NOT be starting all over again. I do know my user i.d. that shows up at the bottom right of the screen, but that doesn't seem to be usable anywhere.
