Defense Derby Tier List
I love tower defense games and I wanted to like Defense Derby. Unfortunately, the balance in this game is pretty much nonexistent and the laggy servers consistently create losing scenarios for players as part of the core strategy is being able to reposition your units. The imbalances create scenarios where a player with 2 units is holding off waves of enemies that another army comp of 4 plus is losing against. Fun for a bit, but if you're looking for competitiveness look elsewhere.
I like playing Defense Derby. It's a fun spin on the card game genre, and there are lots of strategies even at launch. My main complaints are the performance. The game has a lot of input lag as you get into later rounds, and I encountered a glitch where it lags you out after you win. It has been pretty frustrating, but the game otherwise is alright. I really hope they fix the optimization.
Data collection concerns and (possibly related) lag make an otherwise fun game not worth having installed. Data collection: App has no privileges to make phone calls, yet every time I open the app it attempts to call my own phone number. This seems like a shady backdoor method of device/identity detection. In addition, it annoyingly interrupts the music or podcast I have playing. Lag: Game is heavily connection dependant. Result- lag lag lag with spotty Internet.
