Garena Contra Returns Tier List
Wonderful remake. The things keeping it from getting a perfect score for me is two things. First is terrible voice acting. Hope that changes. Next is the lack of full screen view. It doesn't support the latest phone models and leaves a black bar for phones with teardrop screens. I think that is easier to fix so I hope they do it soon.
Good visuals, although some of the character designs don't really feel like they belong in the same Contra universe, the drawing style is too far different from the two main protagonists. Gameplay still needs some improvements especially the control mapping, fix the position of jump button so it'd be easier to press. What made me give this only 3 stars is the voice acting. Horrible and sounds amateurish, especially Dr.Mandrake. His voice turns serious lines into funny ones, in a very bad way.
Yea it seems like a free game but after playing for 2 years I've realised it's just a gimmick. Ranked matches are always unfairly matched. Guns and stuff are really hard to get and without certain guns, levels are hard to complete. Honestly they don't really take care of older players. New players could just dump some cash in and get OP new S heroes and start thrashing the old birds like me and this really pisses me off. All those work I've put in 2 years doesn't matter. Uninstalled. Bye.
Generally is all good. Only one thing bother me is reward for classic duo. It is moving the goal post with the reward choices. Three are 8 unknown cards to choose (3 totally free and to open the rest is by ingame currency). I choose 4 and mostly normal rewards and the other 4 is rare. No matter I make choose the same pattern or randomly. It is a moving goal post I am not likely to hit random rare item unless I open all the cards.
This is a great return for such a classic game. Graphics are awesome, story is compelling, new characters and nice progression system keeps me hooked. What I love the most is the classic soundtrack that's been made modernized. I hope there will be more remakes of classics that we grew up with!
