Alone at the table, I sat there disheartened, desperately hoping this was just a one-off incident and not a reflection of the dining experience at this establishment.
The experience was made all the more frustrating by unwieldy technology. The Ember Inns app, which was supposed to streamline the ordering process, has become a source of irritation rather than convenience. On multiple occasions, I’ve noticed it takes an eternity to respond, often causing me to press multiple buttons before any action occurs. The incessant pop-ups for confirmation questions and terms to agree to only add to the confusion. It often loses my order mid-process, forcing me to restart everything from scratch. It’s bewildering that in April 2023, the app seemed to have improved a bit, but as of December 2023, it’s reverted to its sluggish ways. Even the “Order at Table” feature directs me to the “Book a Table” option, which leaves me frustrated and unsatisfied.
As my visits continued, the issues kept compounding. I’ve encountered other patrons’ dogs in the dining area on three separate occasions; an unwelcoming sight when trying to enjoy a meal. To make matters worse, during my third attempt at ordering, they didn’t even have the food items available! It became clear there are other establishments that offer a better variety of food and a more pleasant dining atmosphere, free from the distractions of barking dogs. Moreover, the rewards app is nothing short of useless. I’ve experienced disappearing loyalty rewards and app malfunctions that led me to miss out on discounts. While the potential of at-table ordering is promising, the reality has fallen short, with loyalty offers that sometimes fail to apply, leaving me utterly bemused. Overall, the inconsistencies and frustrating experiences over my last few visits have led me to reconsider whether the Fox and Hounds is worth my time or if I should explore better options nearby.
