The dire situation worsened when I dug deeper into the company’s operations. It became painfully clear that Cookr doesn’t maintain a robust network of delivery personnel. Instead, they operate as middlemen, prioritizing profit over quality and service. According to several home cooks I spoke to, the substantial discounts advertised by the app are actually deducted from their earnings, leading many to voice grievances. The cooks, often ready with freshly prepared meals, face ruinous delays as their food sits idle while Cookr’s so-called delivery 'executives' take hours to appear after the order is completed. There’s an unsettling level of mismanagement that leaves everyone disappointed: frustrated customers, underpaid cooks, and a company more interested in collecting money upfront rather than delivering a worthwhile service.
On top of all this, the app's functionality is appalling. Each attempt to input my delivery address was met with an unsettling glitch that reverted my chosen location to the place from where I had originally ordered. This led to an agonizing extra payment of ₹100 simply to transport my meal to my actual address. To top it off, the delivery executive’s phone was off, leaving both myself and support personnel with no means of contacting him. After waiting for over an hour in a state of vexation, I had to assertively communicate through the app that I would not accept a late delivery. I even documented every interaction with screenshots as evidence, prepared to escalate this matter later. My ordeal with Cookr has been so exasperating that I'm tempted to advocate for a cash-on-delivery model or even suggest better, well-established alternatives if you wish to safeguard your money and enjoy a seamless food delivery experience. Be forewarned: Cookr is far from worth even a single star in this increasingly competitive landscape for food services.
