Cell Expansion Wars Review
The gameplay itself is pretty smooth and challenging at times. The major problem with the app is the sheer AMOUNT of ads. One before a game, one after a game, one before you get into the shop, one when you enter the stage selection, etc. It is just too much. I know that you might want to make some money off of ads, if whales aren't in the game, but non-whales like myself are just irritated by the sheer VOLUME of ads.
I played the original "Phage Wars" and "Tentacle Wars" back when they came out in the era of flash games. This game is a disgustingly un-fun remake of those. It has hundreds more levels, but they're mind-numbingly easey and boring. It really feels like a waste of time, especially with tutorial prompts that never seem to go away. All of which appears motivated to push an order of magnitude more microtransactions than were in the last app release of this style of game.
This definitely increases in hardness level as you progress. When I get stuck I go on YouTube and check for a walk through. That has helped me on many levels that I found two difficult to get through on my own. I'm now stuck on level 2335 for a couple months now and too many other cells to try a power up. Might be stuck replaying old levels now. :(
